The Flu Q - Man down!

AO: The Jimmy

Date: Wednesday, Feb 26, 2020

QiC: Shoota

PAX: 15 total - Waterboy, Shocker, Import, Chunks, Hoser, Yoda, Wilson, HackFace, Noble Virus, Dukey, Maytag, Braddock, Licker, and Shoota (QiC).

It all started to unravel the night before. It was around 6 pm last night and our Nan'tan was beginning to fall apart. The flu had been passed around his house for the past few days and he was in the middle of a battle for his life. He had waged his war on the front line and fought valiantly as the virus began its takeover. He would succumb to its mighty grip around 6:55 pm and waive the white flag on his Q. Few can brave the fight against family germs, particularly one as ruthless as the mighty FLU. It was on Tuesday, February 25th, that Oregon Trail died of dysentery, wait I mean contracted the flu.

Luckily, YHC was prepared to pick up the battle saber and provide the PAX on hand with a delightfully wonderful morning opportunity for improvement.

Pre-Pre Party:

YHC, HackFace and Waterboy ventured around the Jimmy and covered just short of 3 miles with 30# rucks on our back. Well, HackFace didn't have a ruck, so he had to suck it up and run normal timed miles, not the Import and House Arrest mile sprints. So that was likely a welcome reprieve for the Hack. We stopped a few times for dips, squats and the famed "Waterboys" which continue to take longer and longer!

Pre-Party:

HackFace and I continued the festivities while Wilson sold tickets to the show. 15 dips, 15 derkins, 15 squats and 15 irkins. We did 3-4 rounds of these while literally everyone just watched. Finally, Noble was getting cold and decided to hop in and join us. You guys know these are open the public, right? Anyone interested in accelerating can hop in and enjoy the delight for themselves! I promise it is worth it. Let's get the old school preparties hopping again.

Warm-O-Rama:

Let's just say this morning started a little early. YHC yelled for the PAX to circle up a few minutes early and enjoy their Good Mornings and WMH's if they needed them. As the bell rang at 5:45 the music was turned up! It's been at least 4-5 Q's since I brought out the ol'speaker and played a little Baba O'Riley! 5 minutes of glorious imperial walkers get the blood flowing like very few things can. The MC was hot in the beginning and then quite frankly, died off around the second instrumental and never really picked back up!

Lets Mosey....

While making our way to the stadium seating by the baseball fields, I resurrected the "Down" from my last Q. I guess that is kind of my thing now. If you do it twice it becomes a staple! Continue moseying. Get near the ball fields and bear crawl up the hill..."CAR" wait was that Scud Row? Why did he just drive past us at this random hour? Maybe he is just driving around the corner to cut us off. Merkins OYO AMRAP while we wait for the 6 to finish the bear crawl....and Scud to never arrive.

Arrive at the steps behind the field for 40s. Not just any 40s though, gotta step our game up. Dips and Derkins with 20 jump ups between every exercise. Went something like this;

20 jump ups

30 dips

20 jump ups

10 derkins

20 jump ups

25 dips

20 jump ups

15 derkins

20 jump ups

20 dips

20 jump ups

20 derkins

20 jump ups

15 dips

20 jump ups

It was around this time that Braddock and Hoser (who had moved over behind field #2) walked over and said they were done! How in the bloody hell did you guys finish that fast!? They run laps, high plank, and skip around doing who knows what, while the rest of us finish off the 40s. I have to admit the addition of the jump ups really was quite fun! Added an exciting element to an already good routine. Store that one for later.

Alright, we're done. Let's mosey. "Down"

Make our way over to the tennis courts. I yelled "Down" a few times along the way to help keep the group tight. Politician for about 150 yards from the stop sign to the tennis courts.

Arrive at tennis courts...partner up!

One partner Broken wheelbarrow the length of the first two tennis courts, then rotate partners and finish the last two tennis courts. When you reach the end, turn around and come back using the other leg to broken wheelbarrow back. Dukey and I finished first. When I turned around the pure carnage behind me was AWESOME! Men were pushing their limits on this one. It wasn't easy but we got it done. Way to ACCELERATE! Squats while we enjoy the show waiting on the 6.

Next routine; partner 1 bear crawl to the doubles line and crawl bear back while partner #2 does burpees. YHC proudly proclaims, "Lets go until we get to 150 burpees!" Somewhere around 65 burpees, and far too many minutes later, YHC loudly proclaims, "I was totally wrong, we are out of time, 100 burpees is the mark now!"

Mosey back to the flag, which actually didn't exist. I am going to fix that in the coming weeks hopefully. Circle up, you know how this ends. Captain Thors, 1 merkin:4 hammers all the way up. We got to 9 big boys and had to shut it down, time had run out. We finished the Captain thors in the post party however.

Moleskin;

Everyone pushed it this morning and made something positive happen in their lives, we each got better. I appreciate you letting me lead on short notice and hopefully the Q was difficult enough to help you make gains this morning. I am grateful for each of you and all that you do to make me a better son of God, husband, father, and businessman. I owe each of you a debt of gratitude.

#Blessed, Shoota out!
