WoR - we warmed up. Like we literally, actually, warmed up! It was unprecedented. Too many men in our group are injured and struggling with muscle issues. I think part of it is our lack or truly stretching and warming up. So let's try it out!
-SSHs to get the blood flowing. Didn't really have a number in mind when we started just figured we would go longer than usual to get the blood flowing. Then at some point just kept going until Delorean decided to actually join us and get on cadence. I think it took about 25 SSHs to get him there!
The Flow - Good mornings for an entire minute. Then WMHs, Runners stretch, add in some yoga, downward dogs and upward dogs. On your six, one leg over the other stretch out the lower back and glutes. Switch. Not going to lie...the stretching felt good, really good. Not opposed to adding that in more often...hint hint.
Mosey a long lap through the trail to the other side of the Firepit and partner up.
Thang 1 - Tried something new, called Flat Tires. Essentially, a wheelbarrow but with a 4:1 ratio of "steps" to merkins. So with one partner carrying your feet, take 4 steps with your hands and then do 1 merkin, now 8 steps and 2 merkins, 12 steps & 3 merkins, 16 steps & 4 merkins, up to 20 steps & 5 merkins. Then switch positions and the other partner completed the process. Being the odd man out, I just bear crawled both ways so I didn't get the full experience. I think it was a good exercise based on overall grunt count though.
Thang 2 - Lazy Doras. Each partnership completed 100 merkins, 200 4-count flutter kicks, and 300 squats. While one partner did their merkins the other partner held low plank. While one partner did their flutter kicks the other partner held his feet up at 6 inches. While one partner did squats the other partner held Al Gore. Rotate as needed to complete exercises. This didn't feel so lazy.
Mosey to playground
Thang 3 - As Q begins to explain the routine, the group is clearly not paying attention. What the heck is going on? Why is everyone looking the other way? Bambi, that's why. Not the Pax Bambi, who by the way we need to reach out to, but the baby deer Bambi. There were two of them trapped inside the fence at Firepit. Panicked baby deer distracted the men of F3 Franklin even moreso than any MC that Wilson has ever mumbled. It was as if every man worked for PETA and was ready to sacrifice their own lives for the good of the baby deer. They scattered across the soccer field, face planted into the fence multiple times and ran back and forth for minutes. It wasn't until Wilson risked life and limb that the final deer made it to the gate and exited. I heard it ran over to Tuna's new Tesla and butt scooted across the hood.
Anyhow, back to work. Three stations, each partner completes their portion of the overall total. Station 1 - 60 pullups each. Station 2 - 100 swerkins (50 each). Station 3 - Mucho Chesto on bball court - sets of 20 for each man (20 merkins, 20 diamonds, 20 wide, 20 staggered left and then right for a total of 100 for each man).
Mosey back to starting point for Captain Thors....or Not! Instead Pax were treated with more Good mornings and a Vinyasa Flow featuring downward and upward dogs, twists and a bit of relaxation and stretching. You're welcome fellas. We even went about 2 minutes over and the only person complaining about it was HackFace.
Announcements - F3 Dads is next Saturday at Soar Adventures. 0-11 and 11-18 groups are coming up, get in those HCs.
Prayer and we're out. Grateful for each of you. Remember my August challenge, meet up with a man in the group and have coffee, lunch or a beer and get to know one another. YHC admitted in the circle that I have failed to ensure accountability to men in the group and I need to improve on that.
