AO - The Jimmy
QiC - Shoota
PAX - 29!!!!!!! Cowbell, Waterboy, Shocker, Billie Jean, Stirrups, Dookie, Copperfield, Koresh, Jingle, Banana Boat, FNG Yoda, Balls!, Butterfly, FNG Joey, Delorean, Wilson, Lunch, Maytag, FNG Harbaugh, Dodger Dog, SKUD Row, Macaroni, Torch, Foosball, Gig'em, The HackFace, Lump and Braddock!
As I rolled out of bed this morning, after a rather late night in the urgent care with my daughter, I contemplated how unprepared I was for today's Q and my attitude was pretty lackadaisical. As I ate a banana, and drank some water, I stared out the window and convinced myself that not many guys would be there and I could just wing it and nobody would know the difference. Just get it done I told myself. I picked up Cowbell on the way and proceeded to The Jimmy. As we rolled up...."Holy Hell, look at all the people!" There were so many men I couldn't even tell if a pre-party was going on. As I walked up to the group my entire demeanor changed. I went from let's half ass this thing, to utter excitement at the opportunity to lead this amazing group. As I fist bumped each person in attendance my excitement grew. This is AMAZING! We're giving it away and men are buying in! I can't half ass this thing...these guys deserve more from me! That's why I love F3 Franklin, just when you get comfortable, just when the thought of complacency sets in, it forces you to do more, push further and try harder! The PAX won't accept mediocrity.
Warm-O-rama
Drop a waiver on everyone and explain the process to the FNG's. Push yourself, but don't hurt yourself. Good form is better than more reps (Got that from Pope!). Modify as needed.
25 Side Straddle Hops (SSH's)
5 Willie Mays Hays (WMH's)
5 Good Mornings
10 Baby arm Circles (BACs)
10 Backward baby arm circles (Back BACs)
Let's Mosey! As we run away from the shovel flag Gig'em and I begin to talk. This is amazing, look at all these guys! I've got to find an area where we all fit! Torch responds, "It's like a convergence, but without the convergence part!" As I yell, "everyone grab a line", I realize there is actually a shortage of parking lines. The PAX spread out over a span of nearly 60 yards to find a line.
Mucho Chesto Time;
Bear Crawl to end of line and complete exercise, then crawl bear back and plank and wait.
5 Merkins (Push ups)
5 Diamond Merkins
5 Werkins (Wide Arm Push ups)
5 staggered right Merkins
5 staggered left merkins
Let's Mosey to the basketball court - I bet I can fit everyone on the sidelines...if we pair up.
"PARTNER UP!" as we arrive at the basketball court and get on the sideline.
Modified Bear Crawl 1-2-3's
PAX complete 100 merkins, 100 WWIIs (sit-ups), and 200 squats as a team. While partner 1 does workout, partner 2 bear crawls to opposite line and crawl bears back. Then rotate.
Circle back up...well actually everyone just make a big rectangle.
It's BURPEE APOCALYPSE time! Nothing gets the sweat flowing like an unnecessary amount of burpees! It's sweating season men and we're getting it today!
10 burpees, 9 burpees, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1. YES!!!! Great work men, I am excited by the effort being given. This is incredible and inspiring!
Count off by two's. 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2......Lets Mosey to the track!
Partner 1 - 20 jump tucks at the bottom of the hill, politician up the hill, 20 merkins, jog down the hill.
Partner 2 - Sprint the straightaway, broad jump the corner, sprint the straightaway, broad jump the corner.
ROTATE! PAX complete the other set of exercises.
Mosey back to the shovel flag for Mary...on the way Braddock comments, "still time for Mary, this is an old school work out!" Yeah it is, we're getting some today Braddock! Today is the day we complete the nemesis....Captain Thors!
MARY
Many Q's have their "Thang". My thang is Captain Thors. To this day, we haven't successfully completed the entire 10:40 ratio, but TODAY IS THE DAY MEN! I'm excited at the possibility...let's get some! 1 WWII (situp) to 4 American hammers. Keep that ratio all the way through. 2:8, 3:12, 4:16. 5:20...10 second break. The PAX are sweating, they're nearing their end, grunting has ensued, and Oregon Trail isn't even here! Almost there men...we can do THIS! Keep pushing...6:24, 7:28, 8:32.....Q struggling to give cadence.....9:36......10:40!!!! YES!!!!!
Moleskin
Count off....29! Almost unimaginable. Certainly, the most we've ever had at the Jimmy. Not that long ago we were excited when we hit double digits! When leadership set off on the #Franklin150 campaign we did it for one reason. The idea that if we truly expanded our ranks, we could positively impact our families, our relationships and our community in a more impactful way. In the past we've repaired pipes so an elderly woman could have water again. We've mentored at risk youth to become leaders resulting in young men going back to school, completing their homework and improving their grades. We've supported Franktown Open Hearts through charitable contributions and community service. We've volunteered at REBOOT Recovery, an organization that helps veterans, first responders and their families find hope and healing through trauma healing courses. We've mentored men through our Third F series' on improving their marriages, and The Five Marks of a Man to teach them about what it really means to be a man and what we should be doing for our wives, community and families. We did all of this with a few dozen dedicated HIMs (High Impact Man). Imagine what we can accomplish if we filled our ranks with even more HIMs! Today was proof that we are on the right track. Today was proof that the unimaginable is quite achievable!
It's always a privilege to lead you fine men. You push me to be more, achieve more and expect more. You never settle for mediocrity and it's an amazing thing. Keep doing what you are doing. Find new men that need F3 in their lives. Keep inviting others and keep pushing your own limits. We all started this journey in different places, and at different times, but we're all headed towards the same goal....to go one step past our own comfort zone. That's where we'll find our personal growth!
Prayers to brother Spicoli. He's in a fight and he needs all of us to battle with him.
Thanks guys....Shoota!
