Date / AO: 5/3/19 @ The Firepit
Q: Macaroni
PAX: (15) Macaroni, Hoser, Gig’em, Waterboy, Shoota, Billie Jean, Copperfield, Zamboni, Lump, Shocker, Foosball, Canary, Braddock, Zoolander, Venkman (FNG)
~5:40am – Pax start circling up…but wait, where’s the QiC? Has anyone seen Macaroni? Who’s that heading this way on the bike?....carrying a floral tote bag? Macaroni! Just in the nick of time.
~5:45am – Q asks “What are you all looking at? Let’s get started!” Pax huddle up for instructions w/very confused looks on their faces. Q attempts to train pax on how to read and find points on a map. 15min later…pax still have very confused looks on their faces. Q asks, “Any questions?”
~6:00am – Q breaks pax into 3x groups of 5 based on size/weight for an “orienteering/map reading” scavenger hunt competition. Initial plan to carry someone in the group at all times scrapped for the sake of time. Teams plot ~10 points throughout the AO, plan a route, and head out.
Warm-O-Rama:
Stretch physical and mental muscles while receiving “Map Reading for Dummies” tutorial.
The THANG:
Teams split up and run approx. 2 sq-mile AO finding as many of 10 previously plotted points as possible. At each point they must all complete an exercise challenge consisting of:
1. Incoming! Hit the deck and knock out 40x Burpees.
2. Get your “swole” on and do 60x “Merkins”.
3. Get the abs ready for the beach and do 75x WWII’s.
4. Share the bench and do 50x Dips w/legs extended.
5. Tried and true, 50x Side Straddle Hops 4ct in cadence.
6. Is this Russia? NO! 40x Amer’n Hammers, 4ct in cadence.
7. Drop it like it’s hot and do 40x “J-Los”, 4ct in cadence.
8. Put your feet up (on the bench) and…knock out 40x “Derkins”.
9. Ring in Cinco de Mayo w/30x Mexican (Jumping Bean) Squats (aka jump squats).
10. Sing “We are the champions” and do 75x Freddie Mercury’s, 4ct in cadence.
~6:25am – Teams return to start point at the previously designated time…with the exception of the QiC’s team who’s 2min late. Way to set the example Q!
Two teams find 4 points but are late, one team finds 3 points. Tie-breaker time! Congrats to team Nantan Gig’em as they are crowned the champions of the inaugural “F3 Scavenger Hunt” after winning a team relay race.
Moleskin:
Teamwork, stretching the mind, adapt and overcome, compete to win, flexibility,…just a few takeaways I hope everyone got from the unorthodox Q. I appreciate everyone’s patience and great attitudes….praise God I’m blessed to know and call “brothers” such a great group of HIMs! Based on feedback hopefully we can build on the map reading/team competition for the future.
Side note/profound random question – “Are smart phones making us smarter or dumber?” For me the answer is “both”.
God bless! Until next time,
Macaroni out

AO: Armada
Pax: WaterBoy, Macaroni, Dr. Claw, Shoota, Braddock, Sanctions, Bartman (QiC)
7 pax assembled at Armada for what was supposed a wet morning, but turned out to be every bit pleasant. YHC was feeling like a chest day,
so time to get the pax in line. Loving this new 0630 launch time, btw.
Sanctions rolled up with coffee in hand...figured we could do some good mornings to let him finish.
Proper warm-o-Rama consisting of slow ass Merkins, SSH, Good Mornings, & WMH.
The THANG
Start out with each pax grabbing a parking spot line. 11s with Carolina Dry Docks and Squats with bear crawls and crawl bears as mode of transportation. Not much MC here...gassing them right out the gate.
Next up...time for the Merkin Mile. Pax run around park and at Q command and drop for certain number of merkins.
Started at 20, then 19, all the way down to 1. ALong the way we stopped for 5 pull-ups each pax and also for some wall crawl with Merkins, mountain climbers and j-los.
once done with merkin mile, time for some 40s at the social media benches. CAROLINA dry docks and squats.
back in the parking lot we did partner carries and finished up with some DORA 1/2/3 (100 lunges, 200 squats, 300 lbcs).
Finished off with 21 burpees in honor of the life of Riley Howell. I pray we never have to face that situation, but if we do, I pray we have the same courage.
strong work today gents...always appreciate the opportunity to lead. Y’all push me.
YHC,
Bartman
